summary

Spent most of the day in the cafe today working through a good mix of theory and practice. One of the things that continues to frustrate me about AI is that things sound really good on paper but without a proper grasp of the fundamentals you spend hours debugging things that should just work. So lately I've been finding myself going back to the basics and working through SICP and CodeWithAntonio again, just to get a better foundation. SICP is a dense text but also beautiful in its ideas, and with perplexity teaching me to ELI12 some of the more difficult exercises, there's never been a better time to learn tough things.
